Other Images:
Etching, 1906,
168 x 279 mm., Wuerth 396 ii/ii. Fine, atmospheric and effective impression in black ink on a sheet of old laid paper with full but uneven margins, signed in pencil and from the edition of 75. The view shows the reflecting pool in front of the palace with trees at the sides, the palace itself transformed by sunlight into shimmering patterns.
Provenance:
Paul Sachs (Lugt 2113). Paul Sachs, born in Germany in 1873 and not to be confused with the late Paul J. Sachs of Harvard, was initially an architect but turned to music and became a music historian and conductor in Munich. He collected modern prints in the years 1892 to 1914. We know nothing else about him and he may have perished in World War I.
