Female Nude Study
Pencil and estompe on brown wove paper, 201 x 289 mm., ex collection: Walt Kuhn (not in Lugt). A quick pencil sketch but with carefully, if peculiarly, added shading with the estompe, on a roughly torn sheet of paper. The style is close to that of many of Pascin’s etchings, although obviously far less finished. The sheet bears the Kennedy Galleries stamp identifying the work as an original drawing by Pascin from the collection of the artist Walt Kuhn. Kuhn (1877-1949) was an organizer of the famous 1913 Armory Show and a friend of Pascin.
