Farm Buildings, Connecticut
Pencil, black chalk and grey ink on grey paper, 263 x 327 mm. Shaded sketch, with framing lines, of rustic buildings, trees and a telephone pole. Nisbet lived and worked in South Kent, CT and the scene here is certainly in that area, which is also the subject of most of his many etchings. He was, in fact, an excellent etcher and his depictions of old houses and scenes in rural Connecticut are perhaps second only to Kerr Eby’s etchings of similar subject matter. The drawing is unsigned but the attribution is certain.
