Etchings, ca. 1760, 152 x 238 mm., Berlin Ornament Catalog 5294 – I. The complete set of four plates showing the 24 letters in the German alphabet, each letter represented twice, the larger version of each incorporating fantastic or grotesque figures in rococo style. Fine impressions with the address of Engelbrecht A.V. and the privilegio, oddly without Wachsmuth's name or monogram. The works are clearly given to him, however, in the Berlin catalog. Fine impressions on laid paper with small margins, in a few places trimmed close to the platemark; minor creases, stains and edge losses, the first plate age toned to a darker color than the others and with two repaired tears. Sold as a set.
