La Flora (The Origin of Flowers): Bosco con al Centro una Grotta
Etching, 1628, 188 x 285 mm., Bartsch 10, Bologna Catalog (Toscani) 742. Fine impression, a bit dry at the lower right corner, on laid paper trimmed on or just outside the borderline but with the text below; two tiny pinholes and slight traces of a vertical center fold. La Flora was an opera with music by Marco da Gagliano and Jacopo Peri, the settings and costumes designed by Parigi himself, presented in Florence on October 14, 1628 for the wedding celebration of the Duke of Parma and Margarita de Medici. Parigi did a set of six prints of scenes for this production, of which this is the fourth. They are all quite rare today.
