Mrs. Anastasia Robinson

Mezzotint, 1727, 355 x 251 mm., Chaloner Smith 307 iii/iii. Fine impression on laid paper with large, slightly ragged margins; a few slight rub marks and a couple of short hair lines. Anastasia Robinson (ca. 1690-1750) appeared on the operatic stage from 1714 to 1724 in leading soprano roles in operas by Handel and others. She is pictured here sitting regally at the keyboard of an ornate two-manual harpsichord. The print is cited in Grove’s Dictionary of Music.
