Brilliant impression of this fine portrait by the greatest seventeenth-century English engraver, on laid paper trimmed on or just within the platemark; blank tip of the lower right corner lost and a minor thin spot. Thomas Mace (ca. 1613-1709) was, apart from being a singer at Trinity College, the author of Musick’s Monument, one of the most important source books for the study of instrumental music in England in the seventeenth century.
