Gustave Charpentier

Color photo-mechanical print, 1902, as published in L’Assiette au Beurre: Nos Musiciens, 216 x 210 mm. Charpentier (1860-1956) was the noted composer of the well-known opera Louise, and of a great many other things not at all well known. This wonderful caricature portrait was published, with others, in the Parisian satiric journal mentioned above. These are not original prints in the true sense of that term, but they are the original publications of images available in no other form. Fine impression on brownish wove paper with margins, a caricature portrait of the composer Théodore Dubois verso. We have a few others from this set, including Massenet, Saint-Saëns, Boïto and Mascagni. Please inquire.
