Fine impression on wove paper with good margins, as published in Uylenspiegel, No. 50, January 11, 1857, with text verso; paper edges lightly browned and nicked. Wilbrant (1824-1873) was more than just a scenery painter; he won an award at the Brussels salon and there was a series of lithographs done after his paintings. But it was as a theatrical set designer that he was best known and pictured here by his countryman Rops, holding across his lap huge paintbrushes.
