Couturier, Carnival Scene at Night

Carnival Scene at Night

Black chalk, and white with pen & ink and pencil, 203 x 235 mm. Complex and finished drawing on olive-grey paper showing throngs of people at a nighttime carnival, with a hawker, a dancer, strong men, acrobats, a man on a trapeze suspended from trees and considerable action all around. Signed in full. A very fine and effective drawing. Couturier worked in Paris and, obviously, died too young.
