Etching, and drypoint, 1657-58, 124 x 157 mm., B. R. S 70 iv/iv, Hind 294 iii/iii, Boon & White 70 iii/iii, Nowell-Usticke 70 iv/v. A fine, rich impression with some burr on the woman's hair and the slipped stroke across the distant spire apparently partially scratched out but still visible, on laid paper with narrow margins outside the platemark including the square corners at the top. The paper shows a portion of a watermark "...IER" and is apparently of the 18th century as is the impression. Before recently published research on the watermarks of Rembrandt's papers, impressions of this quality would have been considered probably lifetime. Minor old tape stains verso.
