An Extensive Landscape with a Castle and Two Seated Men
Brown ink, 256 x 385 mm., Provenance: Robert Udny (Lugt 2248); Ercole Lelli (?) (L. 2852). An extensive Carracci-style landscape (formerly given to Agostino Carracci) with seated nude figures in the foreground, in brown ink on laid paper, laid down on an old decorative mount; small losses restored. The attribution to Brizio, who was the best disciple of Ludovico Carracci, was given by Ann Sutherland-Harris in the last few years (the work was sold as Agostino in 1998).
