Engraving, Hollstein 2 only state, Wurzbach 2, LeBlanc 2, 74 x 370 mm. Very fine impression on laid paper with narrow margins outside the platemark almost all around (trimmed on the platemark in a few places). Despite Hollstein's (and Wurzbach's) title, the subject is the Marriage of Isaac and Rebecca as told in Genesis 24 and as referred to on the print itself. This Eleazar (there are several in the Bible) was Abraham's oldest servant to whom he entrusted the task of finding the right wife for Isaac. The format is long and narrow allowing for a huge cast of characters and de Bry’s genius for miniaturizing the most complex, large subjects is clearly evident.
