Other Images:

Etching and drypoint, 1878, B/G 97 ii/ii, 50 x 70 mm. Very fine proof impression on thin, brownish wove paper with large margins, signed in pencil and inscribed “Cazotte – l’honneur perdu et retrouvé, Edition A. Quantin,” and with the triangular Buhot family stamp verso. As part of the complex composition, Buhot has inscribed at the left the initials AQ, which are the initials of the publisher. It is so like Buhot to take such extraneous elements and incorporate them into his vision, as he did with Le Peintre de Marine, using the platemaker’s stamp in the copper as an element in the image. Like the preceding number, rare.
