Death as a Welcome Visitor to the Poor
Engraving and etching, Wurzbach 139, Hollstein 553 only state, 214 x 283 mm. Superb impression on laid paper with thread margins at the sides, trimmed on or just within the plate mark top and bottom but showing the full text. The quoted text is from Ecclesiasticus XLI: “Oh death, your sentence is welcome to one in want…,” but the scene needs no explication. Surely, there can hardly be a more moving print!
