The Story of Abraham (4 prints of the set of 5)
Engravings, each ca. 57 x 85 mm., Bartsch 1-3,5, reverse copies; Landau 1-3, 5 reverse copies. Brilliant impressions on laid paper, trimmed on the platemark with an occasional bit of thread margin, and laid down to another sheet with drawn borderlines. The set is lacking the image of Abraham and Isaac Going Toward the Mountains. These extraordinarily well-done copies may be by Nicolaes de Bruyn (fl. 1584-1656) and published by Ahasueris van Londerseel, as the script is very similar to that used by them. The images show Abraham Entertaining the Angels, The Sacrifice of Isaac and, out of order, Abraham Casting Out Hagar and Ishmael, and Sarah Introducing Hagar to Abraham.
