Lender Dansant le Pas de Boléro, dans
Lithograph in dark green, 1895, 368 x 270 mm., Delteil 104, Adhèmar 128, Wittrock 103 only state, edition 50. Provenance: Herbert D Schimmel. A superb, delicately printed impression on white wove paper with full margins, signed with the red monogram stamp, numbered twice in pencil from the only edition of 50, and with the blind stamp of Kleinmann, the publisher. Wittrock mentions that the stamps and numbers appear on about half the impressions of the edition. Lender was one of Lautrec's favorite subjects and he attended countless performances of "Chilpéric" simply for the pleasure of seeing her.
