Caida de un Picador de su Caballo Debajo del Toro (Fall of the Picador under the Bull)

Etching, with burnished aquatint and drypoint, 1815, 244 x 352 mm., Delteil 249, Harris 229 iii/iii, from Tauromaquia (plate 26), first edition. Fine impression with strong highlights and no visible wear, from the first edition, on laid paper with a Serra watermark and full margins; a stain in the plate margin at the right. The edition was printed for Goya in 1816. The size of that edition is unknown but small, according to Harris, who also mentions that impressions on Serra paper, which is the same paper as used for the proofs, are probaby the earliest.
