Moonrise
Pen and black ink, over engraving, 2001, 260 x 211 mm.On a damaged impression of a German 17th century engraving of Lot and His Daughters, bare trees emerge around, on and through the large figures, turning the scene into a winter landscape. Lot's knee has changed into a rising moon and is now the light source for a scene in which the ambiguity is not just of scale but of what is human or not human. Backed with another sheet, titled, dated and signed verso.
