Lithograph, 1895, 280 x 208 mm., Stein & Karshan 27. A fine impression on laid japan paper with large, full margins, signed and numbered in pencil from the edition of 100 published by L’Estampe Originale and with their blindstamp; light foxing in the margins and verso. The conventional title masks a clearly Symbolist image. The face and the pose are strongly expressive – but of what we do not know. It is the nature of a symbol not to mean just one thing.
