Le Coiffeur -- Programme pour Le Théâtre Libre
Color lithograph, 1893, 320 x 240 mm., Delteil 14, Adhèmar 40, Wittrock 15 ii/ii, Aitken 22. Fine impression with fresh colors on cream wove paper, trimmed to or just outside the image, as issued. The program was for the first production of the 1893-94 season, comprising plays by Björnstierne Björnson and Maurice Vaucaire. Lautrec’s image represents the second, Le Poète et le Financier, but it is a free adaptation of one of the characters and not a specific scene in the play. The print was issued in an edition of one hundred before the text, but the programme edition is rarer today.
