Etching, drypoint and aquatint, 1879-80, B/G 148 v/vii, 134 x 180 mm. Fine impression on laid paper with full margins, signed in pencil. Ex collection: Ellen Sharp. The paper is time toned to an even, warm tan through the image and the area of the old mat opening. Though brought about through time and atmospheric conditions and not by the artist, Buhot would have approved of this. It is certainly Buhot’s most utterly charming print, a picture of life, as it once was, in his beloved town of Valognes.
