Running Horse
Charcoal on illustration board, ca. 1938, 345 x 500 mm. (sheet), 185 x 290 mm. (image). Thorne was an etcher and an illustrator, very well known for her portrayals of dogs. Her animalier abilities extended to other creatures, though, and this handsome study of a young running horse shows off those abilities without any of the “cutesy” quality that affects some of her works. Signed with initials in red chalk. We have other drawings and watercolors by Diana Thorne. Please inquire.
