Description: |
Fine impression of the finished state with letters, printed with plate tone on D. & C. Blauw laid paper with large, full margins; a few tiny tears at the sheet edges. As published by Cadart in L'Eau-Forte en 1879 as plate 7. The image is an enlargement and expansion of Lalanne's tiny plate of Vitré of five years earlier and shows the medieval buildings of the old town. It has a real sense of atmosphere, as well as of place, and is one of Lalanne's most attractive etchings. |
