Description: |
Fine impression on wove paper with large margins. The view, enclosed within an ornamental printed frame, is of the town of Teplitz in Bohemia, well-know for its spa, and is taken from the balcony of a large house from which groups of people enjoy the view and partake of refreshments. Though meticulously well drawn from life and beautifully lithographed, the intent is more topographical than artistic. C. Schmidt, who could not be located in Nagler, Benezit, etc., is identified on the print as teacher of drawing at the University of Gottingen The lithographic printing is credited to the firm of Von Steinmetz & Bornemann in Meissen. |
