Description: |
Very fine impression with burr and a strong, even film of plate tone, on laid paper trimmed on or just outside the platemark by the artist and signed in pencil on the tab. The identity of the sitter is apparently unknown. Hausberg notes only a single impression of the first state (before additional diagonal shading to the left and the right of the sitter's neck and collar) and this is either that one or a second, previously unknown impression. There were about 25 impressions of the completed state. |
