Fine impression on thin laid paper trimmed on or just outside the borderline (which shows all around); small repaired tear at the base. The image shows a peasant smoking a pipe while leaning on a rock; the title and signature are engraved on the rock. The work is clearly in the tradition of Van Ostade, and Loutherbourg was a superb draughtsman and etcher. |
