Description: |
Fine impression with light plate tone on rather thick laid paper, which shows the watermark of a Fleur de Lis in an oval with V above, the same watermark as the MMA impression, trimmed on the platemark. The image is clearly a forerunner of G. B. Tiepolo's Capricci of a century later. The shepherd is holding a musical instrument in his hand that appears to be a shawm. Wallace remarks that the print is "somewhat rare." |
