Description: |
Good impression with areas of dry printing at the far left on laid paper, trimmed along the borderline on three sides, just into the image at the right; vertical printer's crease, multiple small damages, mostly around the edges, traces of brown in touch up in the shadow of Ruth. Although this is the left-hand plate of a larger work, the composition seems complete and satisfying in itself, with the figure of Ruth "amid the alien corn" in the right-center foreground and Boaz to the left. Though the background landscape is continuous through the two plates, the right hand plate tells a different part of the story. |
