| Description: |
A good impression on the full page from the book, with the engraved text. Though Merian died ca. 1686/8, the volume, by the pseudonymous Wahrmund Jocoserius, was apparently not published until 1730 by Freytstadt in Nuremberg. The image shows the fool seated by a table, taking medicine administered by a woman. The table contains more medicines and do the shelves behind him. His bed is nearby. It is clearly a representation of hypochondria. |
