Four tiny but exquisite drawings in pencil on brownish wove paper, laid down to old mounts, one heightened with white gouache, one meticulously finished in gold, white gouache and red watercolor, two signed with initials, one dated 86 and one of the mounts inscribed with the artist's name. The four subjects are 1. A duck pulling a scalloped shell in which a monkey is seated, 2. A winged putto riding on a rabbit charges a waterfowl, 3. A rabbit pulling a conveyance with a seated monkey and 4. A winged putto riding a winged insect threatens a bird on a branch with a spear or arrow. |
