Fine impression on thick wove paper with full margins, signed and numbered in pencil. De la Marne au Rhin was a collection of images of Forain's observations and comments on World War One. Taken directly from his drawings, the images were reproduced by various means, including photo-lithography and collotype. They are, therefore, not original prints, though Forain signed the edition and the images are available in no other form, apart from the original drawings. This image shows two soldiers struggling with an old woman over a body in a bag; a screaming child runs toward the group. |
