Description: |
Good but slightly uneven impression (the aquatint weakens at the right) in sepia on laid paper with good margins. The subject derives from Le Prince's travels in Russia. Men in furred hats drive a covered wagon pulled by two bullocks through a landscape, followed by men on foot and herds of sheep. Le Prince was the first artist to use aquatint on a consistent basis. |
