Description: |
Rapidly scribbled, but fully worked out, compositional study in pencil finished with grey washes and signed in ink, on laid paper laid down to another sheet. The scene is unexplained: two figures, one of them nude, emerge from a building with Greek (?) columns and see, in the air, a flying and gesticulating figure who may be carrying a child; clouds or smoke surround the flying figure and other standing figures are lightly hinted at in the background. The artist is also unexplained being possibly one of a family of sculptors who worked for the Sevres porcelain manufactury. |
