| Description: |
A fine impression on imperial japan with good margins, signed in pencil, notated "Opus 46" and initialled; the paper is evenly toned to a dark gold color. The image shows a bearded man (perhaps a portrait) in winter clothing and hat standing in front of a snowy, treed landscape. Werenskjold is apparently famous in Scandinavia, mostly as a painter, with works in the museums of Bergen, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm and elsewhere. He is virtually unknown here, at least as an etcher. |
