Description: |
Pencil sketch with shading on a double sheet of graph paper torn from a sketchbook, apparently signed with initials PB at the right, but questioned by some. Though traditionally attributed to Bonnard, the drawing may actually be by Jacques Villon and the supposed signature an odd scribble. The scene shows a seated woman in a room, apparently holding a cup in her hand. A child is seated on the floor with a ball in front of him. Various pieces of furniture, walls and doors are sketched in. Obviously, a drawing from life but whether preliminary to a later project is unknown. |
