Very nice, finished pencil sketch of the French town of Etaples (Brittany) on wove paper with framing lines and signed and dated in pencil. Etaples is the scene of most of Lee-Hankey's etchings and drypoints but he concentrated on genre scenes of the inhabitants. The view here is from the shore, dominated by a long wooden dock with beached boats, the houses of the town standing up behind. |
