Fine impression on laid paper trimmed on or just within the platemark but with a white border around the image and text; the paper slightly dusty particularly in the lower plate margin. The impression has been inscribed in brown ink: "Mort 1692, agé 79." Ménage was a scholar, the author of Origines de la Langue Francaise (1650) and Origines de la Langue Italienne (1669). |
