Description: |
Sensitive, well-drawn study of the face of an older woman, wearing a small, flowered hat and with a ribbon tied around her neck, on laid paper, laid down to thin board. The bottom of the paper is inscribed "Mr. Bontwood." Good became famous as an illustrator and did mostly oil paintings for reproduction. It is thought that this is likely an early work while he was still studying at the Chicago Art Institute (he studied also with George Bellows and N. C. Wyeth. |
