Fine impression of this circular print on a rectangular sheet of laid paper with large margins; staining in the margins and a portionof the lower left margin lost. Monti, who was also a painter, made only a single set of twelve landscape etchings, typically in the Bolognese style. They are rare and unsigned and would probably be all but unknown had Bartsch not catalogued them. The trees are particularly well drawn and there is a certain dreamy quality about these etchings that differentiates them from the harsher etched work of some of his contemporaries. |
