Fine impression with plate tone and wiped highlights on thin, laid japan paper with large margins, signed in pencil; pale foxing in te margins. The first state is before the dark sky and other reworking. Parrish notes that he printed 5 proofs of the second state and later signed 13 impressions for Klackner's publication of the print. There were presumably other, unsigned impressions. The scene is in Nova Scotia (Acadia). Schneider notes that the scene probably derives from the paintng An Acadian Farm, 1881, but Parrish notes that the print is the forerunner of painting No. 524 (title unknown). |
