Description: |
Fine impression on laid paper trimmed on the platemark. Gherardini's Caprices were obviously inspired by those of Callot (and both were sets of 50), but only a few seem to be actual copies of the Callots. Bellini, in TIB, mentions only a single state of each, but these are apparently an undescribed second state with numbers at the lower right. The prints are rare and none have appeared at auction. |
