Delicately drawn view in pen and brown ink and finished with touches of watercolor in brown, pink and green, on laid paper with black framing lines; verso, peasant figures drawn in red chalk, probably by another hand. One of several inscriptions on the back refers to a village near Arras (Atrecht) which, now France, in the later 16th century was a part of the Spanish Netherlands. |
