Description: |
Fine impressions of the set (lacking October, F. 11985), on thin laid paper, trimmed outside the borderlines and with the blank panel below; some with small losses at the corners or edges, not affecting the images. The first states are before signature and before the names of the months (second states are with both of these, and third are a mixture of reprints and copies by Bonnart). The set may possibly have been designed for the goldsmith Pierre le Sueur, though they are far more graphic images than possible goldsmith's designs. The works are very much in the ambience of Callot though clearly showing a different artistic personality. Few other works are known by Boutemie, and all are exceedingly rare (no auction records). |
