Description: A very good and delicate impression of this exceedingly early plate by Testa, showing the rework of the second state, on laid paper with watermark of three mountains in a circle, with thread margins; a couple of pale stains, a long repair along the top edge, a tiny loss at the upper left corner and a restored loss in the ground shading. The "playing" is Christ trying to pull the cross from the hands of John, the implication of what is to come. The print, done while Testa was an unknown artist in Rome, was printed in only a few impressions and is consequently rare.
