Description: |
Assured and typical pen and ink sketch on wove paper, signed in ink; a few thin spots, browning at the edges of the sheet and a repaired tear in blank paper at the upper left. The attractive, young and fashionably dressed European woman holds a japanese fan and is surrounded by miniature Japanese figues and large pots with flowers and foliage as well as sketched distant landscapes. The arrangement is similar to many Somm did for his popular etched calendars but does not correspond to any of them. |
