Description: |
A fine impression in brown-black with lightly varied plate tone on old laid paper watermarked 1825, with full margins, signed in pencil; a minor printer's crease just crosses the lower right corner of the plate. The view is down St James's Street directly toward the facade of St. James's Palace. The horse guards themselves, tiny in the print, stand under the arches at either side of the entrance to the palace. Horse-drawn cabs and pedestrians are on the street and the entire foreground of the print is left blank to greatly emphasize the depth of the view. |
