A fine impression in brown on laid paper with good margins; soft diagonal crease across the blank area at the bottom. We do not know whether or not this plate was printed in colors. There is also no publisher's name on the impression, which may indicate that it comes from a later edition made in 1801. The plate seems quite unused, though, which may indicate an early impression, perhaps before colors. Despite the misspelling, the portrait is, of course, of Benjamin Franklin. |
