Description: |
A very fine and rare impression, one of only 4 or 5 of this state, on thick laid paper with full margins, signed in ink and annotated "4me etat"; the paper browned in the margins, a few small edge tears, trace of a vertical crease. A brilliant depiction of a scene from the French Revolution, Boissy attempting to quiet the mob while the severed head of the previous president is thrust at him on the point of a pike. |
