Convoi Funèbre au Boulevard de Clichy (Funeral Procession on the Boulevard Clichy)

Color etching, aquatint, roulette, drypoint, etc. over heliogravure, 1887, 300 x 395 mm., Bourcard/Goodfriend 159 iii/iii. A fine impression printed in black, green-blue and two shades of brown, with wiped highlights, on heavy wove paper with good margins, signed with the red owl stamp in the lower printed border. The color was achieved both from the use of a second plate and à la poupée. The print is Buhot's major effort in color printing and one of his greatest prints. Impressions vary greatly in the balance of colors and their effects, in conformity with Buhot's quest to get a variety of impressions from a basic matrix.
